Life Sentence to Love

I love snow.. but this isn’t snow… this is slush. even if there is several inches of it… its still slush.. its not winter yet and that makes me sad.

Why did the Worm cross the road?

 this morning I woke up nice and early. (yes I said “nice” and “early” in the same sentence) I wanted to watch the sunrise. here is my story.

  6:30am

       my Ipod begins playing Josh Garrels “don’t wait for me” which slowly but surely woke me up. then my dog willow began to freak out on account of me waking up, which in turn means she gets to go outside.. hence the freaking out. so I let her out of my room and let her outside. turning to the coffee maker I am even more confused in my sleepy stupor, its full of fresh hot coffee.. I’m not alone…..

  turns out it was just my mom, so I head downstairs coffee in hand to my room to prepare for my “run” to see the sunrise. having misplaced my hoodie I put on a thermal. and all I can think of is I’m gonna get hit by a car… because I’m wearing allllll black. oh well!

   Grabbed my camera in anticipation of the most beautiful scene of the sun piercing the overcast sky. but we will get to that later.

   after checking the time (online obviously) of which the sun attacks the day head on. I stretched for a good thirty seconds… figuring that was enough I busted open my bible, after reading a good four words I looked out the window…. I can’t wait to see the sunrise.. sitting in my chair kicking my feet back and forth in anticipation of the day which hasn’t quite started yet, unable to sit still or focus on any one thing except the sunrise. like a four year old waiting for ice cream..

  So I left,

grabbing my camera I run out the door, making it to the end of my driveway I turn right. already not sure how far I can run.. but I kept running at LEAST a minute and a half.. then I slowed to a walk, I blame my camera which was dangling by my side hitting me in the ribs slightly.

  and there I stood, for nearly twenty minutes.. not very happy with myself for leaving so early.. I waited, and while standing I realized that the sun was going to come up in the woods nearby.. not the field in front of me.

 determined to see a beautiful sunrise, I continued to wait. and the time when it was supposed to rise passed, with no noticeable change.. nothing in the sky showed even a faint differing in hue or color. just gray overcast and towering trees..

  so I gave up, turning around I see a bright blue sky. a single patch in the exact opposite direction. where if you were to put your hand out, you could cover most of it. 

 smiling from ear to ear and while glancing back and forth between the two very different sights, it dawned on me… sometimes the silver lining isn’t where you would expect it. 

  and while walking home pondering the whole silver lining thing. I counted 24 worms all of which were crossing the road. hence the title… not sure what to think about that..
